BEST FEEDING PRACTICES IN 2018 INTRO.
This post on the best feeding practices in 2018 will help you achieve the best feeding habits. Feeding is something every one has to do. This isn’t something we have to choose to or not to do. This is a call of nature, and like other calls of nature, including urinating and pooping, we must answer to it. However, when we do feed, do we stand, do we sit? That’s entirely up to the person feeding. What then is the best way? That’s entirely up to the person but there’re best ways to do this. Even newborns have to feed as much as other’s do. So, what then should be the best way? This post would focus on elders though. If you’d like to read more on children feeding, please, read on good feeding practices for babies.
LIST OF THE BEST FEEDING PRACTICES IN 2018
- Choose the best selection of food and ensure it’s balanced.
- Avoid junk and feeding when you’re hungry.
- Have a good eating posture.
- Explore and Ensure the food you have is looking inviting.
- Keep your food safe.
You can check out my post on four ways to keep your food safe for info on the 5th thing on the list.
CHOOSING THE BEST SELECTION OF BALANCED FOOD
Depending on where you are, you can choose to eat plant protein or animal protein. In the end, what you ate would be protein. However, what food that gives this same protein is the best to offer on various occasions? A lot of people lose appetite or just feed on what they see without considering if or not it’s balanced. This makes sense if the person is hungry. Howbeit, it is not the best way to live a long and healthy life. Somehow, the foods we eat tend to have a general say on how we live. Eating fruits tends to be the best natural selection. This includes even when the fruits are squeezed into their various forms of juice used as desert.
A food that is balanced would contain all the 6 classes of food in their appropriate proportions. We may not always have what it takes to quantify them but we can always do what is right by our own books anyways. Fats, Oils, Carbohydrates, proteins, water, vitamins and minerals are all important and should not be neglected.
AVOID JUNK AND FEEDING WHEN YOU’RE HUNGRY
Junk foods are usually the kind of food they sell on many streets. The perfect quick remedy to hunger. By the way, feeding when you’re hungry is also bad. You shouldn’t feed because you’re hungry. You should feed because you need to. This way, you can have the time to make your natural selections and not buy and feed on junk which eventually gives you hormonal imbalance (the origin of obesity).
Many people are trying to lose weight today because of the junk they ate yesterday or a fortnight ago. That’s wrong, we should pay attention to this.
HAVE A GOOD EATING POSTURE
Digestion, may not entirely depend on posture, but it does depend on it anyways. A perfect example is when you are eating on your bed with your head slightly tilted downwards over the pillow that is placed just below your neck and back. If you try eating this way, you’d end up finding food particles move into your windpipe and this can cause death. Get a chair, sit right and eat well. This includes;
- Sit a bit more forward on your chair
- Come onto the top of the pelvic bowl so you are not tilting back
- Feel the spine blossom up out of the pelvis
- Let the head float on the tip of the spine.
- Hinge at the hips and keep the spine long.
- Bring the food up to the mouth.

EXPLORE AND ENSURE YOUR FOOD LOOKS INVITING
This is necessary to ensure you don’t suddenly lose appetite when you are ready to eat. It is easy for people to make a choice on what they want to eat and end up not eating the same food because they lose their appetite. If something disgusting happens around you at the point where you feel like feeding big time, just ensure the food is inviting enough.
Let your food draw curiosity out of you. For instance, if you’ve always liked the delicious smell that comes from a newly made plate or bowl of soup your neighbor makes, find out the secret. Make the same kind of soup and let yourself fantasize about eating this food before you actually take the first bite. This makes feeding interesting and makes you feed well.
